Estes Heating and Air Brightens the Holidays with Gifts and Food

Estes Heating and Air is excited to participate in a gift and food drive at a local children's home this Christmas. We delivered gifts to 20 children at the children's home today and provided food for a Christmas feast for five families. The ladies of Estes Heating and Air volunteered to wrap the gifts for the children and we are excited to see the smiles of the families we are blessing this holiday season.

The Best Heating System for Your Georgia Home

There are many ways that you can heat yourself, from old-fashioned fireplaces that distribute the air through a system of ducts, to eco-friendly designs that place little impact on the environment.

It can be hard to decide which heating system works best for you and your Georgia home; however a few typical ones are listed below.

  • The traditional furnace can be fueled by any number of things: gas, oil, wood, coal, or electricity.  The furnace takes the air from the house, warms it, and uses your HVAC to circulate the warmed air throughout the house with the use of blowers.  Each type of furnace operates differently according to its fuel.  Often an air filter is used on the air to remove dust and pollen and, typically, a thermostat is used to control the house’s temperature.
  • Using hot water through a system of under-the-floor plastic pipes is another way to heat your house called hydronic heating.  The heat radiates up through the floor, often at a consistent level.
  • Baseboard heaters are installed units in the baseboards of your house, which is a low-cost procedure, but overall baseboard heaters tend to be more costly to run.  Each unit is individually controlled by a dial.  Radiant heat systems include units that are installed in ceilings or floors with individuals dials—much like radiant baseboard heat.  No blowers are used.
  • An electric heat pump or the dual-fuel system not only works as a heater, but as an air conditioner during the summer.  It removes heat from the outside air, ground, or water and moves the air through the house by using vents.  If the air needs to be heated further, it has the ability to do so.

However you want to heat your house depends on your budget and your house’s needs.

The most popular heating method in Georgia is the traditional furnace, which can heat your entire house efficiently.  However, the dual-fuel system is growing in popularity, especially as it can also function as a residential A/C.
